There’s not doubt that many are finding issues with these saws. However, a bit of perspective is likely in order. These are not stationary saws, never will be as no one wants to move around a 500lb beast from job to job. There are thousands and thousands of these on job sites and guys are making a living with them. If we need really precise cuts in the field we either use a track saw or we bring the piece back to the shop. I’m with you…it would be great to have precision in the field…but it’s all a trade off…money and weight. We’ve had great luck from these saws and we use them daily.
I tested both saws and found their performance similar, though thanks to the rolling stand, I was more likely to reach for the DeWalt. If you don’t value the stand, the SKILSAW packs a lot of power in a small form and is the preferred job site saw of several local contractors I know. If you’re a weekend warrior like me, you may value the stand enough to spend the extra money on the DeWalt.

The roller stand that comes with the DWE7491RS is extremely effective and easy to use. One of my biggest concerns when buying a job site table saw is mobility and ease of set-up for one person. Weighing 90 lbs, saws like these can be a serious lifting hazard for one person. So having a mobile solution that allows a single worker to set this saw up is a hugely important issue for me and many other users.

The power switch is a bit finicky.  I noticed this at their media event and also when using the saw.  A quick press of the on button does not work and it seems that you have to press the button for a few seconds.  Additionally, you need to push this button straight on and not at an angle to work.  My guess is That Dewalt will work this out in time.
Blades come in various types and sizes. There are rip blades for cutting along the wood grains, hollow ground blades ideal for various materials, crosscut blades suitable for smooth and precise cuts, and combination blades for that double up as blades for crosscutting and ripping. Depending on what you do the most, it’s necessary to choose the right blade type and size that will get the job done with the most ease.

The DEWALT DWE7491RS is a very good job site table saw. I’d even go so far as to say I think it’s the best overall job site + mobile stand option out there. This is a pretty bold statement considering I’ve been a huge fan of the Bosch saws for years. My assessment is based on the combination of power, quality build, cut capacity, and an effective mobile solution.

Chris – Great question. If you break it down a bit you can see why. The table saw uses a much smaller blade so the demand on that saw is actually quite a bit less. Also, if you make the table saw 120, you need another battery, and the conversion cable….the saw becomes VERY expensive. Just my two cents…but I’m fairly sure this is what kept it at 60v….it’s damn impressive though.

The shark fin-style riving knife behind the blade keeps cut pieces from binding and causing kickback. The included push stick is useful when using thinner workpieces that don’t allow your hand to be at least 4 inches from the blade.
